Turn your GitHub into a living city
Sign up at caldera.social with GitHub and Caldera builds a city from your repos in about 30 seconds, with nothing to install. Each building is a repo, its height grows with your commits over the last year, and windows light up for repos you committed to this week. The city sits on a public profile page that rebuilds from GitHub every 6 hours, and it can show visitors to your sites and your AI agents live.

What you get
- A city of your repos. Buildings are repos and districts group them. Public repos are named and link to GitHub.
- Private repos, only if you want. Install the Caldera GitHub app on the repos you choose. They appear as padlocked buildings with no names. The app has read-only access to repository metadata and cannot open your files.
- Live visitors. Add one script tag to a site and its visitors parachute into your city as they arrive; signups and sales get their own celebrations.
- AI agents as drones. A small hook shows your coding agents over the repo they are working in.
- The time of day. The sky follows the viewer's clock, from dawn to night. Pop the city out into a small window and watch it all day.
- People. Add friends, start a group at caldera.social/g/name, and get a daily summary by email.
How to do it
- Go to caldera.social/auth/github and sign in with GitHub. Your account needs to be at least 30 days old with a public repo or a follower.
- Your page and city are built from your public repos and open on your account page.
- Edit your name, headline, links and photo there, add private repos if you want them, and copy the live-visitor snippet for your sites.
Use Obsidian too?
Move your GitHub sign-up into an Obsidian vault any time and keep your page. Your vault adds a daily journal, a digital garden and end-to-end encrypted sharing with friends. Already on Obsidian? Add your GitHub link to Caldera/profile.md and Caldera builds your city from your public repos. See What is Caldera?
Questions
Does Caldera read my code?
No. It reads repo names, languages, sizes, commit counts and your public activity. The optional GitHub app for private repos has read-only access to repository metadata, which does not include file contents.
Is it free?
Yes. Your page, your city and friends are free, and the code is open source.
How do I delete it?
On your account page, choose Delete my Caldera profile. Your page is erased and Caldera's access to your GitHub is revoked.
