Guide
Change your page
Your page is built from your vault, so you change it the way you change notes. Pick whichever is easiest; they all end in the same place.
1. Ask your AI
Copy this into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or any agent that can edit files in your vault. Replace the last line with what you want, like "make my headline about my new studio and add my Substack link". It shows you the change before it makes it.
- Finds the right file
- Shows you the change first
- Keeps private things off your page
- Never touches your key
Help me change my Caldera profile (https://caldera.social/@<my handle>/). Caldera builds that public page from my Obsidian vault. Vault: <ABSOLUTE PATH TO MY OBSIDIAN VAULT> (If I did not fill this in, find my vault yourself: it is the folder that contains a .obsidian folder. If there is more than one, ask me which.) Where things live: - Name, headline, photo, banner, links, properties, topics, which sections show, and directory listing: the frontmatter of "Caldera/profile.md". Keep its format. Photo and banner are paths to images inside the vault. - A note on my page: add "caldera: public" to that note's frontmatter (title and first paragraph are shown). Remove it to take the note down. - My daily journal: caldera_headline / caldera_focus / caldera_wins / caldera_themes in daily notes named YYYY-MM-DD.md. - Activity counts: "Caldera/activity.json". The page republishes automatically about a minute after Caldera/profile.md changes. For anything else, tell me to run "Caldera: Publish my profile". Rules: - Show me the exact change before you make it, and only make what I approve. - Everything on the page is public: no private names, clients, deals, money, health, family, location, emails or phone numbers. - Never read or edit .obsidian/plugins/caldera/data.json - it holds my private key. My handle can only be changed in Settings -> Caldera. What I want to change: <DESCRIBE THE CHANGE>
In Obsidian, Caldera: Copy AI prompt: change my profile gives you this prompt with your vault path and handle filled in.
2. Edit Caldera/profile.md
Caldera creates this note when you set up. Everything in its properties is public. Save it and your page republishes about a minute later. Run Caldera: Edit my profile to open it.
| Property | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
name, headline | The top of your page | headline: "Designer. Writing about tools." |

topics | Which tags may be counted publicly | - "design | Design" |

Your handle, hub and identity are in Settings → Caldera.
Your key, other devices, and deleting
- There's no password. Your login is a key Caldera keeps in this vault, and the hub only accepts changes signed with it, so nobody else can edit your page.
- Save it: Settings → Caldera → Export recovery key, into your password manager. Never paste it into an AI chat.
- On a new device, open the same vault (Obsidian Sync, iCloud, git) and your key comes with it.
- To leave, run Caldera: Delete my profile from the hub. Your vault isn't touched.
